About the CP Visors

cp corao ski helmet with visorCP offers a growing number of high quality visors with different lens colour, coating and corresponding price. The visor gives you a beautiful panoramic image and has a perfect seal all around. Especially for spectacle wearers, the visor is ideal, because it rotates in front of the spectacles.
Because of the soft seal, the visor is comfortable and does not press into the face like a pair of ski goggles. The visor can be opened and closed quickly in one movement with your glove, for example to enjoy the sun in the lift! Unique is the polarized visor. It impressively reduces the extreme dazzling reflections on snow and ice. Unique is the polarized visor. It impressively reduces extreme dazzling reflections on snow and ice.

The absolute highlight are the CP Comfort lenses. Their photochromic and polarizing properties make the visor brighter and brighter. In bad weather the polarizing effect enhances the contrast, and the darker the lens colour, the more contrast. The polycarbonate used guarantees perfect breaking strength and optical purity. The CP visor is perfect for spectacle wearers and is also very easy to change without tools.

CP Visor types

Mirrored lenses

cp ski helmet visor with mirrorTo reduce the risk of eye damage, CP offers a wide range of coated visors. The mirror coating consists of a layer of reflective molecules on the front of the visor. This increases the reflectivity of the surface and thus reduces the need for strong lens tinting.

Fog stop coating (Anti-Fog)

CP Ski helmet with visor with anti fogThe water-repellent Fogstop coating prevents fogging of the inside of the visor. The coating reduces the surface tension of the water. As a result, the water spreads out in a thin, even layer with minimal optical limitation. This ensures optimal visibility, which improves safety when skiing or snowboarding. The double lenses provide even better protection against misting.

Polarised Visor lenses

CP ski helmet with polarised visor Glare reflections that make people wear sunglasses are caused by wet horizontal surfaces such as wet roads, water and snow.

Polarizing filters are therefore adjusted to prevent horizontal light from passing through the lens, which greatly reduces glare. Polarised lenses offer greater protection against UV light and improve contrast in snow, so that contours and dimples are more visible even in fog or cloud. The basic tone of polarised visors is pink or brown - with different reflections.CP ski helmet with polarised visor example

Self-tinting (photochromic) visor lenses

Self-tinting lenses - also known as "photochromatic" or "vario" lenses - have the subtle feature that the density of the lens sound is automatically adjusted to the current lighting conditions. So you're actually ready for any type of weather!

So the sunnier it gets, the darker the lens becomes. When the sky is cloudy or twilight falls, the lens becomes automatically brighter. The technique: the organic photochromatic molecules incorporated into the lens become darker in response to the sun's ultraviolet rays. They return into original state when UV rays disappear.

The extensive range of high-quality visors is crowned by the CP Comfort lens. These lenses are polarizing and have not only the highest UV protection but also a noble reflection and are photochromatic.

With a Comfort lens, your eyes will remain untired for an entire day, so you can concentrate better on what's happening on the slopes. Like all other CP visors, they are made of high-quality, impact-resistant and largely scratch-resistant polycarbonate.

How the different CP visors protect

The difference between the visor variants of the CP variants is not only in appearance. The polycarbonate that CP uses to manufacture its visors provides 100% UV protection for all visors. In terms of light transmission, the visors differ according to colour tone and reflection. The following tables provide information about the level of protection of a visor.

CP Visor Specifications

CP ski helmet visor is available in 3 shapes!

An important feature of a good visor is the fit. A well fitting visor prevents even the finest snow from penetrating. To achieve the optimum in this respect, CP offers three different types of visors, see picture below.

CP ski helmet visor 1.6 has a rounded bottom for a better field of vision. CP ski helmet visor 2.7 has a sportier flattened bottom, which often fits better with a slimmer face. CP ski helmet visor Carachillo XS is specially designed for this type of helmet and is a little less high, especially for children, but also ideal for women with a small head size. This visor has a small notch, otherwise the visor will not turn properly over the helmet. Just like the visor 1.6 and 2.7, this visor type fits all CP ski helmets. But 1.6 and 2.7 do not fit the CP Carachillo XS ski helmet because they do not have the notch!

CP Visor seal bottom

The 3-layer soft foam on the underside ensures that the visor fits tightly against the face. The visor feels so comfortable that you can hardly feel it and does not press it into your face like a pair of safety glasses! For "fine tuning" CP even offers two different foam edges for each visor type (normal and thick version, see picture.) So that the visor is suitable for all face shapes.

The three plastic clips on the underside of the visor ensure a firm grip on the foam and also allow easy replacement. The foam has been specially developed to ensure a perfect seal between the visor and the face and to prevent annoying drafts or snow.

CP Visor Sealing top and side

ski helmet visor with bad sealing exampleThe rubber seal attached to the upper edge of the visor prevents the penetration of snow and water when the visor is closed. With CP, this seal is optimal because this strip extends to the end.

There is also foam on the side of the visor for an even better seal. With many brands this is not properly regulated and the snow can also penetrate through the side of the visor. Then what you see in the picture can happen.

A good seal of the ski helmet visor is therefore very important. Because if snow can penetrate, it causes drops / snow on the inside of the visor and also the foam gets wet. So the visor will fog up and together with the wet foam the fun is over... On the picture below you can see that the seal of a CP visor is optimally maintained all around.

CP Ski helmet visor - Tips & Tricks

Changing CP visors

Every CP visor fits every CP helmet (exception: CP CAMULINO). Mounting another CP visor and converting one visor to another CP helmet is child's play. You do not need any tools or skills. Disassemble the visor preferably on a table. To do this, turn the two knurled screws with the CP logo anti-clockwise until they come off the helmet (1). Now remove the visor. Make sure that the two round grid plates that appear are now loosely attached to the helmet (2). (DANGER OF LOSS!) Important: When fitting the visor, make sure that the grid plate is positioned as shown (3). Finally, tighten the knurled screws with the CP logo clockwise.

Cleaning & maintenance of the CP visor

Clean the visor preferably with a mild soap solution and let it air dry. If necessary, gently dab the visor with a microfibre cloth. Aggressive acidic cleaning agents should not be used as they can damage the materials and the coating.

PLEASE NOTE: The inside of the visor has an anti-fog coating which is very sensitive to scratches. So do not touch it, just shake the water off the visor and let it air dry.
